Much like the beaches in Cadiz, Almeria is full of what’s known as virgin beaches, meaning they have nothing built up around them and no facilities nearby. The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is a good area to base yourself if you want to visit some of the best beaches in Almeria with ease.
During the summer, the entire coastal region is crowded with people traveling to the beaches, including some of the best beaches in the southern part of Spain. September and October are much calmer, which is ideal because it’s still warm enough to spend the day at the beach. Here are the top beaches in Almeria that you should visit.
What Makes Almeria’s Beaches Special?
Although the Costa de Almeria’s amazing beaches are all stunning, there isn’t a single solution because they are so diverse. Of the more than 200 kilometers of coastline in Almería, 70 kilometers are found within the stunning Cabo de Gata natural park, which means that these beaches are protected. The marine life can be very amazing near shore, and these beaches are especially serene and clean. Naturally, the water is a stunning blue and generally rather quiet, and volcanic rocks surround them. That is petty.

Playa el Playazo de Rodalquilar

This place is not only well-known because of beautiful beach but also for wonderful coastline trails. Along the coastal walkway, Castillo de San Ramon is just a short stroll from the golden sandy beach.
There aren’t many castles on beaches, but when you do, you can be sure that the day will be fantastic. In the 18th century, this fortress was constructed as a distrustful base from which to protect the shoreline. Although you can only enter the exterior of the castle due to its private property status, it is a striking sight to behold from the shore. Due to the castle atop it, I think Playa el Playazo is among the nicest beaches in Almeria.
Cala Del Plomo
Cala del Plomo is the number two location on my list of the top beaches in Almeria. This beach is another one where you’ll want to keep Google Maps close at hand. After leaving one of the main highways, you will have to go on a badly maintained road through rocky terrain with a variety of vegetation. After what looks like hours of worrying that your car may break, the road ends at the beach. The breath-taking view of Cala del Plomo’s pristine waters more than makes up for the unforgettable trip to the beach.
To enjoy some of the breath-taking sights, we took a quick trek along the coast. A watchtower guarding the beach from a ledge dates back to the 16th century and was built to keep an eye out for Berber adventurers. The closest town is many miles away, making Cala del Plomo one of the greatest beaches in Almeria if you wish to escape the more crowded sections of the coastline.
Cala De Enmedio
Cala de Enmedio is another unspoiled beach that may be reached by hiking along the same route that leads to Cala del Plomo. Although the trail’s beginning is a little tricky to locate from the road, Cala del Plomo has a useful map that shows the location. The hike is quite simple, and most of the trail is level. It takes around twenty minutes to complete the trek, and seeing one of Almeria’s beautiful sandy beaches makes the trip worthwhile.
Since it is surrounded by a natural park and can only be reached by foot, the beach itself is perfectly kept and has no stones in its sand. There are white fixedhills on either side of Cala de Enmedio, which you are welcome to explore. You can make the Torre de la Mesa Roldan in the distance; it was utilized for Game of Thrones filming. It’s one of Spain’s greatest hidden treasures, and the beach is truly stunning. Accessing many of Almeria’s top beaches requires some work, but it’s well worth it.

The Monsul beach is found in the province of Almeria in southern Spain. The Monsul beachis well-known for its irreplaceable natural structures and appearance in the film “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”. The beach is categorized by its dark sand, pure water, and distinctive rock creations. Also, it contributes to its famous location in the Cabo de Gata-near natural park.
